Backyard Tomato Cooking Class

Please join us for this very special class and meal at our home at Pinoli Farmhouse Kitchen.

We have an abundance of tomatoes that we would like to share! The late harvest is the gift that keeps giving so I thought teaching this class would be a perfect way to share the bounty.  Check out what you will learn and eat!

  •  We will start by introducing you to the variety of tomatoes we are growing and taste the difference between them.

  • We will then be making a popular Israeli breakfast of Shakshuka where tomatoes are spiced with harissa and stewed with peppers and onions, and then used to poach eggs.

  • We will show how to kick up a tomato sauce by roasting tomatoes.

  • We will make a Sicilian style pesto made with fresh tomatoes.

  • Then we will make a delicious layered tomato dish using our home made Tartine-style bread.

  • We will also make a smoked tomato vinaigrette for an escarole salad.

  • We will conclude with a sit down meal in our beautiful backyard homestead.  You will have some time to explore what we’ve been up to- meet the chickens, check out the many raised beds and look at the view of the bay from the top of the hill.

Here are the recipes you will take home:

Shakshuka with poached eggs

Roasted tomato sauce (with pasta)

Baked Tomato Gratin

Pesto Trapanese

Smoked tomato vinaigrette with escarole salad
